The chaste tree (scientific name Vitex agnus castus), is a shrub in the Mediterranean and Central Asia areas, characterized by purple flowers and fruits reminiscent of peppercorns. Recent studies have shown how the effectiveness of Vitex agnus castus is due to its concentration of essential oil (0.5 - 0.8%), diterpenes (with anti-inflammatory properties) and flavonoids (powerful antioxidant).
